This is a gunfighter novel novel that I believe most readers of Westerns will enjoy. Readers who like novels by Robert J. Thomas will most likely like novels by David. I highly recommend this author.
A excellent book full of action and very fast paced .The story was believable .Also very entraining I loved all the action.
I really enjoyed this book. Alan David never disappoints, and he really knows how to write an entertaining Action Western. Crick Bender’s father never agreed with having guns around, and he didn’t want his son using them. Crick just happened to be a natural with them, and would hit anything he aimed for. Crick had only just arrived in town when he came across Shotgun Joy Royden. A man he had previously hunted, with no success. Royden really did pick the wrong moment to come out onto the street, and he definitely didn’t make the right decision in aiming his shotgun at Crick. Three bullets all finding their mark soon took care of Royden, and announced to the town that Crick Bender had arrived. Frank Miller had heard of Crick’s reputation with a gun, and has sent him a letter requesting his assistance to clean up the bad element of men around town. For $1000 Crick is certainly prepared to deal with Jack Riley and his men, the JR Crew. He’s more than capable for the job in making Jupiter Creek a safer place to live. As he says – “I’m a killer”. After killing a few men in the town, you would think all the men would be a bit smarter, and not pull their firearms on Crick, but not so. He really is a one man killing machine. He and Pearl Miller who is has fallen in love with, are quite lucky he saw one of the men he wounded earlier lining them up with his gun. Crick walks away unharmed, but Pearl is knocked unconscious when Crick pushed her out of harm’s way. He really is relentless in his task of ridding this town of it’s bad element. I’m glad the Author took us back to when Crick was 18, and how he hunted his father’s killers after they held up his store and murdered him. If you haven’t read a Western before, then this one would be a great introduction to this genre. The story just doesn’t let up on the action from start to finish. A definite thrill to read.
A western that is well written and so much fun to read. A great old-time western. If you are a western fan, don't miss this author's books.
